Dance Mania workshop

Students of class III danced to the tune of JAZZ in a workshop organized by HT pace. Akansha and Dilip taught a few dance movement which were followed by students . The students cheered in full enthusiasm. Anshul, Kartik, Utkarsh, Nishika and many others enjoyed performing on stage. Noopur was especially appreciated for her confidence.

Workshop on Table Manners

A workshop was organized on table manners on 22nd February 2010. The resource person for this workshop was Ms. Shilpa Bhawna from HT Pace. This workshop was to make the students aware about etiquette while dining. She enlightened the students about the three essential pre -requisites for table manners i.e. Dining, Habits and Values. She briefed the students about the steps to be followed before and after eating lunch or dinner. She also shared the rules for using fork & knife.It was a very interactive session.

Rhythmic Activities(Aerobics)

All the students of class IV gathered in the basket ball court on February 18 & 20 to perform various rhythmic activities to enhance motor skills & improve flexibility demonstrated by Shubhi & Neetu ma’am . This activity will make them able to synchronize their movements with music & co-ordinate hand & leg movements. Learners performed actions first on counts & then on music i.e. AEROBICS. Aerobics tends to be livelier & more enjoyable than regular exercises because the steps add to the range of motions & keeps it away from being boring. Aerobics entails going up & down in rhythm with the music. Learners were very enthusiastic to learn new steps and the whole session was filled with joy.

Solo Dance Competition

Solo Dance competition was organized on 19th February 2010 for the classes of pre school and Play school. Children Performed on solo songs which were based on Patriotism, Bhakti and Folk music. Children were well dressed according to the song and danced enthusiastically. Children were judged on the basis of song selection dance steps and Costumes.

Gauri and Surbhi Nanda from Play School Mickey , Sukhraj and Pragya from Play school Minnie and Tweety, Lipika Nandwani from Play school Donald And Arpit Rana and Khushi Gupta from Play school- Donald and Tom bagged the 1st , 2nd, 3rd and consolation prize respectively.

In Pre school category Palak Modi, Aashi Sharma and Ayush Bhardwaj bagged the 1st,2nd,3rd position respectively.

Blessing Ceremony for class X and XII

A blessing ceremony was organized in the school premises for the students of class XII on 17th Feb. and for class X on 18th February 2010.
Acharya Akhileshwar Ji and Smt. Swarna Bharadwaj, a renowned Naturopath and School Chairman, Sh. B.R.Kamrah graced the occasion with their esteemed presence.

All the students participated in the Hawan ceremony and attended to the pearls of wisdom showered upon them. The school compound was full of pious fragrance and holy mantras. Acharya Ji explained the meaning of some of the famous lines of Holy Scriptures -Vedas.

To speak politely, to not to go astray, to be co-operative and to have empathy were the learning he advised the children to inculcate in their lives. He also gave them the message of practicing austerity and respecting their elders and God.
Addressing the students, Kamrah Sir shared some anecdotes from his own life and told the students that blessings have lot of power. He blessed the children to shine like stars and be successful in life. School Principal, Dr. Sangeeta Bhatia proposed the vote of thanks and shared with children her concern over senseless, mindless acts of violence that have wounded humanity. She advised them to support peace, acquire good habits and to understand that aim of education is character building and not just numeric scores.
Later, their class teachers distributed the Board Hall Tickets to the students and wished them all the luck and success in their exams as well as in all endeavors of their life.

Preparations for Common Wealth Games 2010

‘Common Wealth Games 2010’, scheduled in our city in the month of October, require thousands of children from Schools all over Delhi for the ‘Opening and Closing Ceremonies’ and we are the fortunate ones to be selected for auditions for the same.
On Wednesday, February 17, 2010, the auditions for the same were held at Mt.Abu School, Rohini, at 10.30 am.
146 students from Classes VII, VIII & X went for the same along with 4 teachers ,Ms. Archna Chatterjee, Ms.SanjanaAnand, Ms. Aggarwal and Mr. Karan , respectively.
During the auditions, the students were divided into 4 groups and the choreographer made the children do a few dance movements and the children were then further selected/divided into 3 groups- Red, Blue and Yellow, according to their sense of rhythm, music and dance (level of performance).
Regarding the criteria of selection for the Ceremonies, the sources there said that they had short-listed the students and would let the School authorities know in the month of March as to how many are finally going to perform from our School and the rehearsals would start from April itself.
We came back with a positive note and an assurance from Mr. Jagrit Anand, Asst. Project Officer-Ceremonies , that our School is a part of the Ceremonies- Common Wealth Games 2010.

Celebration of Annual Sports Day

New State Academy, Pitampura organized the Annual Sports Meet on15th Feb 2010 in the school premises. The chief guest on the occasion was Mrs. Neera Chopra, Academic Consultant of the school. After the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, the students of NSA took a march past where in the Junior School Prefect carried forward the school flag with the school motto- 'I am a promise , I am a possibility' . The House Captains carried their respective house flags while leading their groups. The participants were administered the oath of sportsman spirit and fairplay . After the torch lighting ceremony the Chief Guest declared the meet open which was followed by the release of green and white balloons with a message of green environment and peace. The message of using eco friendly means of transport came across in a very subtle way when a child came riding on a bicycle carrying the bunches of balloons which were released by the Chief Guest and the school Principal. Later in her address to the students, Mrs. Neera motivated them to keep a strict watch on their health and to lead a disciplined life.

The day was also graced by Honorable Grandparents of the participants who not only filled the atmosphere with dignity but also gave the message of fitness and health to Gen X by enthusiastically participating in the events specially crafted for them.

After a steaming session of Aerobics by 200 primary students on the beats of thrilling music, the track events enthralled the audience. The atmosphere was electrified by the fascinating moves of cheer leaders and encouraging slogans by the cheering teams who were present fully loaded with colourful banners and posters to laud their teams. To add the magic, the school orchestra kept playing inspiring numbers throughout the day .

More than 1000 athletes of the school from classes III to XI participated in inter-house track events like 100 mt ,200 mt races,relay races, balancing the ball, passing the ball, skating, tug of war, 3-legged race, dribble the ball, slow cycling, fun games like spoon & lemon race,Matka race which were all played in three categories Jr., Middle and Sr. separately for boys and girls.
The students' events concluded with an exciting match of tug of war between winning team of Sr. boys and the teachers including principal, vice principal, incharges and house masters.

All the winners of the respective events were honoured with medals, given away by the chief guest and grandparents present on the occasion .Speaking on behalf of grandparents Mr.R N Arora and Mrs Roshni Gupta thanked the school for giving them a chance to participate in the school activities . They also motivated the children to follow the path of spirituality through yoga and sports. Proposing the vote of thanks , School Principal, Dr. Sangeeta Bhatia not only appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers in making the day a success but also showed her gratitude for the support rendered by parents and grandparents . The day ended on a positive note with a strong message of making sports an integral part of education which wiil help in creating valuable human resources for the development of the country.

Workshop on Quality in Life

Mr. Dheeraj Mehrotra, Head, Total Quality Management in Education interacted with the students mainly on the issues

  • How to be happy.
  • How to set attainable goals.
  • How to remain away from distractions.


He gave simple ways to be happy like sharing a smile, wishing juniors on their birthdays. He also emphasized on acquiring self confidence and self belief and to develop a strong relationship with family members and teachers. The children were motivated to use I.T judiciously by creating blogs, websites and uploading downloading academic guidance, articles, write-ups etc. He showed motivating videos on how to make a difference, never give up, smell of potatoes and tiny frogs. He encouraged the children to be helpful to the people in the society, visit old age homes, orphanages and share the sorrows of people. He concluded the session by saying always wear a smile.
In the end class 9th students shared their feedback with Mr.Dheeraj. Khusbhu khatra had a view point that at times it is helpful to acquire a conditioned learning. Hardip honestly admitted that he liked the videos more than his words. Sahil shared that he got a lot of motivation on not to respond to discouraging people around us.

Workshop on Problems Related to Adolescence

To help the young girls to cope with problems they face in adolescence a workshop was conducted by Health and Wellness club of NSA on Monday, 8 Feb in Conference hall for VII and VIII class. In the Workshop they were made aware about problems associated with adolescence like mood swings, pimples etc, measures that can be taken to overcome these problems and methods to maintain personal hygiene. Students also shared the problems they face and queries of students were solved.
