CMS Vatavaran at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road

Students of the school attended the Environment & Wildlife Film Festivals held from 27th October 2009 to 31st October 2009 at India Habitat Centre.

India has been overtaken with an unprecedented economic growth in the past decade. The vision anticipated in the early years of independence, gathered momentum with the new industrial policy and structural changes in 1991 and gained fructification in the past few years. Uncontrolled and unsustainable growth, industrialization and urbanization has, however, resulted in acute environmental fall-outs, affecting millions of people.
CMS Vatavaran ushered in a fresh green global consciousness on an extraordinary scale, using environment forums and films.
The fifth edition of the festival was organized at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The endeavor was a people’s festival on environment and wildlife, offer a vision to students, specialists, organizations and institutes, building capacity and attempt network facilitation all over the country for protection and upkeep of our environment.

The ‘CMS Environment Forum 2009’ dedicated various themes to the environment:

    * Natural heritage conservation
    * Climate change, global warmingManaging water in cities vis a vis climate change
    * Development of effective climate action plans.
    * Economizing resources
    * Recycle and recreate

The seminars and movies attended by the students threw open to them a deep understanding of different issues related to biodiversity conservation, climate change, green operations, importance of re-cycling, energyresources, unique land preservation techniques etc. Alongside, the students also participated in the Green Tambola and other such events, which generated awareness on various such issues.
